After being detained and bused to jail, the women were not given their hijabs back, Al-Sayyed said. Around 15 hours later, when he was finally given access to his clients, Al-Sayyed said he was able to bring them new hijabs. In a statement to CNN, the university said, “This matter is under review.” CNN has reached out to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office for comment.
